Dreams of Music
I talk about dreams all the time and how we should follow our hearts. I really want this for my kids too.
I have a child who lives to sing. Ellie sings all the time, she has been singing since she could barely talk. At age 2 she amazed everyone at her birthday party by jumping up and singing "Man, I feel like a woman" in the middle of the room.
Now, she wants to sing. She has asked me to find her places to sing. She doesn't care about any of the details...she just wants me to work it out, then take her to the stage to sing. There is no fear there at all. The problem with this is...I have NO idea what to do. I know I was raised in Nashville but I never looked for places to sing. I know that you should never dish out money to a talent agency because they should get paid if the singer gets paid.
I had decided after talking with my friend Kim and some others, that I would wait until she is older because I didn't want her to get her feelings hurt but after watching her sing yesterday with the crappy sound equipment at the elem school, I realized this is her passion. She can be grumpy and then start singing and she will glow. The fact that she has found this at such an early age is a gift and she is great with no fear.
So, here I sit. Wondering what the heck to do. I really think she needs to keep singing. It has been a very difficult year for her and music works better than her adhd meds. I am going to keep encouraging and try to find some places for her to sing even though I am clueless.LOL

Follow Dreams
I painted this angel for Cara's kindergarten teacher Joye Weaver. This is her last year to teach Kindergarten. After 40 years of teaching, Mrs. Weaver is going to open up her own Montessori School. It has been a dream of hers for years.
What a great example she is for us!!! She is in her early 60's and her dream is coming true. The school will be open soon.
One of my favorite quotes is "it is never too late to be what we might have been"...
Congratulations to Mrs. Weaver!!! You have been a great teacher to Cara!!!

Dream Big
If you look at this painting closely, you will see it is an abstract of an
angel releasing a butterfly.
If you were the butterfly in the picture and God was releasing you to be
or do anything you wanted, what would that be?
Maybe we should all think about that because that is what is happening. We all should take the time to figure out what we feel we are MEANT to do and then find a way to do it, even if it has to be part-time to start!!

Happy Graduation Girls!!
I have two friends who have kids that have graduated from high school. I was talking today with my friend Christy whose daughter is one of the girls, I said "tell her I said to aim high"...
I think girls really need to know that the sky is the limit for them. There is no reason they should have to settle for a job they hate. Life it too short and they are at the point in their lives where they can CHOOSE what to do.
So, think about the things you are truly passionate about and keep learning about it. Listen to your heart, it will lead you. God will show you the way you should go. It will be a fun and amazing journey.
This is just my way of saying "don't settle for less than you deserve" because there is no reason too!!!
God put a path in your heart when you were born and you will shine when you find out what that is.
Cori, I have never met you but I know you will do great. You are beautiful and smart.
Olivia, I have known you since you were born and I know you already know what you want to do. Have a great trip to Africa, you will learn much!!! You have grown into a beautiful young woman.
In this pic, my friend since we were 4 years old, Leigh Ann and her daughter Olivia who just graduated. :)

Farrah Fawcett
I have been blown away by Farrah Fawcett. I never thought I would say that. I have never been one to pay any attention at all to female "sex symbols" they always seemed so weak to me to have to use sex to sell when really it is what is inside us that matters, but I realize now I was being judgemental because I have not travelled their personal paths, I will not judge anymore because of one woman....Farrah.
I watched the documentary the other night on Farrah. She allowed a friend to record her journey with having anal cancer. She was so brave to take on this disease and become the face of anal cancer when so many people couldn't even say the words. She was filmed vomiting and weak....she did this to bring awareness for a need for more cancer research and the need to talk about a disease that isn't talked about too much.
I am proud of her. I am praying for her and watching her has changed me for the better! No longer will I judge women for being "sex symbols", it might not be my path but I don't know their hearts, we all have reasons we do what we do. She has proven to be stronger than I could ever be and she has helped millions in the process.

Bloom Where You Are
So many times I have let depression get the best of me. I have talked myself into thinking "well, I am not perfect and how could I possibly help anyone else". This is not true. If we wait until we are perfect to give to others then we will NEVER get there. There is no perfect person but each of us are blessed with our own unique gifts. When we use these gifts in a positive way to help others, we really can't go wrong. So, please don't listen to negativity. Follow the path, you will get there and others will be blessed by the sharing of your journey.
This little tulip is short but I see a lesson when I look at it. The tulip didn't wait until it was the perfect height to bloom, it bloomed when it was ready. The bloom is beautiful! Everyone has a gift that will bloom, don't wait until you are "perfect" be confident and bloom where you are!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!
One of my favorite memories of my mom is riding in the car on
the way to see her parents. It was about an hour drive and she would sing with me. She would sing a little song about chewing Juicy Fruit gum. I loved it. I have so many fun little memories of my mother. She has always been crafty and amusing. :)
I have always known without a doubt that my mother loved me and would always be there for me. She is fun and very funny. I am so glad my kids can enjoy her and love her.
Thank you Mima for being the best Mother!!
I love you bunches

Sweet Thoughts
Kids can be so kind and so real that it brings tears to my eyes. Cara brought me some weeds from the yard and put them in a cup.........she brought me sunshine!
This week was teacher appreciation week at school. We had cupcakes ready for the teachers but Ellie took the time to write each one of her teachers a "thank you" note. She did this without anyone telling her to do so.
All adults could learn so much from children. Children follow their hearts without hesitation. Let's all look at pretty yellow weeds as flowers!!!

Feeling Better
Everyday is a blessing
and should be
treated as such
we are blessed to
live
we are blessed to
love
we are blessed to
laugh
I am feeling much better. Things are looking up. I feel very grateful to be healthy, very grateful to be able to share with others....finally, a corner is turned on the path out of depression.
